About

Mission

The mission of MACI is to mobilize and focus the private and public agricultural resources of the Midwest Region of the United States to make available to others our most important resource, the expertise and knowledge of our people.

Strategic Advantage

MACI has a unique advantage of being located in the upper Midwest Region of the United States with access to university, public and private sector resources in Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota that are within easy driving distances.  These resources include three land-grant universities who specialize in agricultural research and education along with the Northern Crops Institute at North Dakota State University and State Trade Offices that specialize in training and hosting international guests. Additional resources include a large number of state, regional and national agricultural related organizations, international trade facilities in Minneapolis and Duluth, agricultural manufacturing, processing and marketing, and retail businesses along with strong cooperatives in processing, marketing, and finance and retail sectors. The upper Midwest Region also produces a wide variety of commodities and specialty crops. Depending upon the year, North Dakota alone leads the nation in the production of a dozen different commodities. And many of these commodities, and livestock, are processed within the state. MACI members have a large number of personal contacts with experience and expertise in nearly every area that is willing to work with MACI in Study Tours and Custom Training Programs.

MACI Today

MACI continues to undertake custom training program for international groups sponsored by the Cochran Fellowship Program in USDA. These programs are typically two weeks in length and focus on a specific agriculture topic as identified through the Cochran Program. MACI is also partnering with the North Dakota Trade Office in an effort to address agricultural training needs in other counties who are establishing import/export business relationships with North Dakota. In addition, MACI is also developing strategic partnership with Convention and Visitor groups to promote agriculture in our region and organize agricultural tours that address the specific interests of tour groups and other visitors.
